Born: 09.09.1973 -  Rockville, CT, USA

Since childhood, the use of a camera has enabled me to express myself and it continues to challenge me to learn more about our surroundings through the images I create. When I was nine years old, I found a Polaroid camera in my grandparents' basement. Although it didn't work, I pretended to make pictures of rocks, trees, and various things around the yard. By looking into the viewfinder of a camera I discovered a new way to see. Within a few months I obtained a Kodak 110 camera, but my first "real camera" was an early 1970's 35-mm Nikon FTN, which I received from my grandmother for my twelfth birthday. Through the use of this camera during countless hiking trips, I learned the basics of how to work a camera and I became hooked on photography. I was amazed at how I could replicate what I saw, but also how I could manipulate it too. My experience with a camera has enabled me to develop a personal creative vision that depicts what I see in a person, place, object, or a particular moment.

During the past fifteen years I have worked professionally as a photo assistant, staff photographer, photo editor, and a producer for several organizations, but I decided to become a freelance photographer so that I could concentrate on creating images on a more personal level. Although I enjoy working in a studio setting, the great outdoors is my favorite place to be with a camera. In 2005, I completed a hike along the 2,658-mile Pacific Crest Trail, which resulted in my decision to focus on the nature, travel, adventure, and journalistic areas of photography. Whether I am working at an event in the city or on an assignment that takes me across snow-capped peaks, the inspiration to work in photography is my love for the medium, sharing images with others, and the anticipation of making the next photograph. Based in Portland, Oregon, I am available for assignments worldwide and I am capable of creating high quality photography for a wide range of applications.
